On Friday 11th March many teachers from all over London and some travelling from as far as Blackpool came along for a day of insight at the Growth Mindset Conference – Growing Pearls at Eleanor Palmer Primary School.
The conference exploring Growth Mindset theory and practice started with an inspirational talk on child mental health and building resilience from the amazing Tanya Byron (Clinical Psychologist, Columnist and TV presenter).
Mike Gershon (the author of over 30 books on teaching, learning and education) followed and delivered a great talk explaining the transformative results of fostering a growth mindset -the basis of his recent work ‘The Pocket Growth Mindset Handbook’.
Candidates could take their pick of 4 specially-devised workshops in 2 separate afternoon sessions. These were facilitated by lead practitioners from Eleanor Palmer Primary School & Christopher Hatton Primary School. These interactive workshops ranged in perspective from senior management to class teachers and were extremely helpful in demonstrating how this excellent way of thinking is instrumental in ensuring children are being challenged to create a culture of perseverance.
It was a eye–opening day, complete with a delicious lunch and glorious sunshine. Feedback was outstanding – a big thank you to all that attended and contributed to such a great day!
